Wood Types

Learn more about the three main wood types that we use. All of our timber is supplied from sustainable sources.

Entry Range

Redwood is a Scandinavian Softwood with a density of 510 Kg/m3. Redwood requires ongoing treatment to prevent rot, however it does take stain and paint well.

Mid Range

Sapele is a Tropical Hardwood from West Africa with a density of 640 Kg/m3. It has a reddish brown colour with regular striping and an interlocked grain. It has a very smooth finish and takes stain and paint exceptionally well.

Premium Range

Iroko is Tropical Hardwood from Central Africa with a denisity of 660 Kg/m3. It has a golden to dark brown colour that if left bare weathers to a grey finish. This wood takes stain and oil well, however is not recommended for painting due to the natural oils in the wood.
